The garden has started keeping evening hours.
This morning it looked much the same as it did yesterday—bees drifting lazily through the herbs, vines climbing a little higher, blueberries ripening in the sun.

But tonight felt different.
The moonflower vines have climbed all the way to the old garden gate now. Their pale buds are still folded tightly closed, as if they’re waiting for the world to quiet down before they introduce themselves.
So I lit the porch lantern a little earlier than usual.
Brewed a mug of lavender chamomile tea.
Folded my favorite blanket over the back of the rocking chair.
And decided that waiting counts as a tiny ritual too.

There are seasons for planting.
Seasons for tending.
And, every now and then, a season for simply showing up each evening to see what has quietly changed while no one was looking.
Smokey inspected the moonflower buds with great seriousness before declaring them “insufficiently flower-shaped.”
He’ll be checking again tomorrow.
I suspect I will too. 🌙🤍
