Mint Sun Tea

Summer asks for a little patience.
This morning I filled my favorite glass jar with cool water, a handful of fresh mint from the garden, and a few thin slices of lemon. Then I carried it outside to the old stone wall where the afternoon sun lingers the longest.
There it will sit for a few quiet hours, gathering warmth, brightening slowly, and becoming something lovely without being hurried.
I think there is a lesson in that.
Not everything beautiful needs to be rushed into existence.
Some things simply need fresh air, sunshine, and enough time to become themselves.
When the tea is ready, I’ll pour it over ice with a drizzle of honey, find a shady place on the porch, and let the day unfold at its own pace.
Smokey has already claimed the best spot in the shade.
I suppose I’ll have to sit beside him.
