Smokey’s Official Position on Open Windows
Smokey has conducted a thorough investigation.
An open window provides:
Bird surveillance.
Interesting smells.
Warm patches of sunlight.
Occasional breeze.
Access to neighborhood information.
He has therefore concluded that all windows should remain open at all times.
I mentioned rain.
Smokey looked at me as if rain were a structural oversight for which I was personally responsible.
He then returned to the windowsill, where he sat among the moving curtains like a furry gargoyle.
A bird in the garden stared back at him.
Smokey considers this an active case.
The window remains open.
